Fortis Healthcare to Manage 550-Bed Super Specialty Hospital in Lucknow

The facility is set to be developed as a Centre of Excellence for tertiary care services, marking Fortis’ third hospital presence in Uttar Pradesh, following its facilities in Noida and Greater Noida.

Fortis Healthcare has signed a collaboration agreement with Ekana Group to manage and operate a 550-bed greenfield super specialty hospital near Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.

The facility is set to be developed as a Centre of Excellence for tertiary care services, marking Fortis’ third hospital presence in Uttar Pradesh, following its facilities in Noida and Greater Noida. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Currently, Fortis operates more than 5,700 beds across 33 facilities—including joint ventures and O&M hospitals—spread across 11 states, alongside a network of 400 diagnostics labs.

“This development will significantly enhance access to advanced medical care and marks Fortis Healthcare’s third major presence in Uttar Pradesh,” said Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, MD & CEO, Fortis Healthcare.

Uday Sinha, Promoter of Ekana Group, added, “The tertiary care hospital will enhance access to advanced services and deliver quality patient care where it’s most needed.”

The hospital’s introduction reflects a broader trend among corporate healthcare chains to expand into Tier-II cities, aiming to meet rising demand for advanced medical facilities closer to underserved populations. By leveraging Fortis’ operational expertise, the new hospital is expected to provide specialized care and strengthen the regional healthcare infrastructure.
