The collaboration will focus on producing a comprehensive cybersecurity report and market analysis to assess and strengthen India's digital health infrastructure against cyber threats.
The Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) to conduct a national-level analysis of India's healthcare cybersecurity landscape.
The collaboration will focus on producing a comprehensive cybersecurity report and market analysis to assess and strengthen India's digital health infrastructure against cyber threats.
DSCI, a non-profit industry body that works with government agencies, law enforcement, and private sector stakeholders, promotes data protection and privacy through policy advocacy, capacity building, and thought leadership.
During the MoU signing on 24 April, DSCI CEO Vinayak Godse emphasized the growing urgency of cyber readiness in global healthcare systems.
"As an industry body on data protection, we feel there is an urgent and vital need to strengthen global health ecosystems for the future possibilities of cyberattacks," he said.
In recent years, healthcare has become the most targeted sector by cyber criminals in India, with several high-profile attacks on major hospitals such as AIIMS Delhi and Safdarjung Hospital.
As health institutions increasingly adopt digital transformation initiatives, cybersecurity and data privacy remain top concerns.
The MoU enables DSCI members to gain access to HIMSS' educational programs, including professional seminars, masterclasses, and workforce development courses.
The partnership will also facilitate joint participation in executive events and speaking opportunities.
Simon Lin, Managing Director of HIMSS Asia-Pacific, said the collaboration will help health systems in India "adopt emerging technologies responsibly while ensuring the highest standards of privacy and security."
Godse added, "The partnership will be instrumental in furthering the agenda of safe, secure, and resilient healthcare systems."
The joint initiative will also engage with the Indian government to influence regulatory policies that support secure digital transformation in healthcare.
