Smart Nav introduces real-time monitoring, allowing for immediate feedback on electrode insertion depth and positioning. This level of precision enhances the accuracy of the procedure and also reduces the risk of trauma to the delicate structures of the cochlea.

In a significant advancement for cochlear implant surgery, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI Kolkata, has become the first healthcare facility in Eastern India to implement Smart Nav technology during procedures.

This system aims to enhance surgical precision, improve patient outcomes, and streamline the surgical process.

Dr NVK Mohan, Senior Consultant Otologist and Cochlear Implant Surgeon, highlighted the numerous benefits of Smart Nav technology. Traditionally, surgeons have relied on post-surgical X-rays to verify the placement of electrodes within the cochlea.

Smart Nav introduces real-time monitoring, allowing for immediate feedback on electrode insertion depth and positioning. This level of precision enhances the accuracy of the procedure and also reduces the risk of trauma to the delicate structures of the cochlea.

A standout feature of this technology is its ability to measure nerve response (Auto-NRT) in real time, ensuring maximum stimulation of auditory nerves.

The elimination of intraoperative X-rays is particularly advantageous as it saves crucial anesthesia time, allowing surgeons to make necessary adjustments throughout the operation.

Recently, Dr Mohan and his team reached a significant milestone by successfully completing a 480-degree cochlear electrode placement.

"This technological advancement marks a new era in cochlear implant surgery, combining AI-driven precision, real-time feedback, and enhanced patient safety. We would love to offer you an exclusive story on how SmartNav is revolutionizing cochlear implantation and its future potential in ENT and hearing restoration surgery," Mohan said.
