CM Stalin Announces First Govt Taluk Hospital with Modern Medical Facilities

These include ECG units, CT scan services, fully operational surgical theatres, and uninterrupted power supply through diesel generators to ensure round-the-clock services.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is set to inaugurate Katpadi’s first full-fledged government taluk hospital in Serkadu village, Vellore district, on June 25.
Built at a cost of INR 14.30 Cr by the Public Works Department (PWD), the hospital is nearing completion, with final works underway.
PWD Assistant Engineer K Sundar (Katpadi division) confirmed that the new 60-bed hospital is equipped with several modern healthcare technologies.
These include ECG units, CT scan services, fully operational surgical theatres, and uninterrupted power supply through diesel generators to ensure round-the-clock services.
Spread across 15 acres, the hospital will feature separate departments for cardiology, neurology, paediatrics, nephrology, obstetrics, and gynaecology. Dedicated wards have been set up for emergency, accident, cancer treatment, sedation, and radiology services.
The facility integrates several infrastructure upgrades, such as two lifts (one for patients, one for staff), drinking water points, washrooms on every floor, a rainwater harvesting system, and solar panels for on-site lighting.
For operational efficiency and security, the hospital premises will be monitored through 24x7 CCTV surveillance. Health officials have also confirmed that public bus services to the hospital will be improved** to ensure better connectivity for patients and visitors.
Currently, the only government medical facility in Katpadi is an ageing Primary Health Centre (PHC) with limited hours and capacity. The new hospital aims to significantly improve access to advanced medical services for the local population, especially for the more than 40 surrounding farming villages.
The inauguration will take place during the Chief Minister’s two-day visit to Ranipet, Vellore, and Tirupattur districts on June 25 and 26.
