Boehringer Ingelheim, EMRI Green Health Sign MoU to Boost Stroke Emergency Response

The collaboration focuses on improving emergency response and diagnosis within the crucial 4.5-hour treatment window.
Boehringer Ingelheim India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hyderabad-based EMRI Green Health Services, a GVK enterprise operating the 108 National Emergency Ambulance Service, to improve pre-hospital stroke care in India.
With nearly two million stroke cases annually in the country, the collaboration focuses on improving emergency response and diagnosis within the crucial 4.5-hour treatment window. The agreement leverages Boehringer Ingelheim’s global Angels Initiative to provide specialized training for EMRI Green Health’s trainers and call center teams.
As part of the “Train-the-Trainer” program at EMRI’s Hyderabad campus, teams will receive access to stroke-specific educational resources, certifications, and support to enhance standardized protocols in ambulance services.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to improving access to timely stroke care,” said Dr. Shraddha Bhure, Medical Director, Boehringer Ingelheim India. “By empowering emergency teams with knowledge and tools, we aim to save lives and improve outcomes.”
EMRI Green Health Services, which operates in 14 states and union territories, will integrate this training into its 108 Ambulance Service operations. “With stroke impacting millions, this collaboration will equip our personnel with essential training and tools to make a nationwide difference,” said K Krishnam Raju, Director, EMRI Green Health Services.
Dr. Jeyaraj Durai Pandian, President of the World Stroke Organization, added, “Training over 9,000 ambulance teams and implementing a pre-notification system is a transformative step toward closing gaps in stroke care.”
The MoU also includes a framework to monitor Emergency Medical Technicians' use of stroke assessment tools during patient transport, aiming to ensure consistent, high-quality care nationwide.
