Blinkit Begins 10-Minute Prescription Medicine Delivery Pilot in Bengaluru
This marks an expansion beyond its earlier portfolio, which was limited to over-the-counter (OTC) medicines.
Quick commerce platform Blinkit has launched a pilot for 10-minute prescription medicine delivery in select Bengaluru pincodes.
This marks an expansion beyond its earlier portfolio, which was limited to over-the-counter (OTC) medicines.
The platform is now selling a range of prescription drugs, including antibiotics, eye drops, nasal sprays, ointments, and antihistamines via its app in the city.
As part of the initiative, Blinkit has also introduced free doctor consultations, which become available after a customer places an order. The consultations are aimed at customers who either fail to upload a prescription or submit an “invalid” prescription.
The company has not yet issued an official comment on the pilot. The update follows Blinkit’s earlier move in the healthtech space, which rolled out a 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram earlier this year.
Eternal CEO and Blinkit parent company founder Deepinder Goyal shared updates on the ambulance rollout last week. “Until today, we have responded to 594 calls, 50% of these critical emergencies. Today, our 12 ambulances across 6 depots reach patients within 10 minutes, 83% of the time,” Goyal said in a post on X on July 24.
He further added that Blinkit is “now building an in-house paramedic training program to complement its quick ambulance service.”
The Bengaluru pilot comes amid increased activity in quick commerce’s healthcare vertical. Earlier in April, PhonePe’s Pincode debuted a 10-minute medicine delivery service in three cities. In October last year, Swiggy partnered with PharmEasy to deliver medicines within 10 minutes.
Other platforms, including Zepto, Flipkart (via SastaSundar), Tata 1mg (with BigBasket), and Apollo 24/7, have launched or are exploring similar pilots. Emerging startups such as Plazza and Farmako are also offering under-30-minute deliveries. In February, Zeno Health raised $25 million in Series C funding and launched 50-minute medicine delivery in Mumbai.
