These collaborations aim to improve cloud services across healthcare, public procurement, and the banking sectors.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) India has announced strategic partnerships with the National Health Authority (NHA), Government e-Marketplace (GeM), and the Public Sector Bank Alliance (PSBA) to enhance India’s digital infrastructure.
These collaborations aim to improve cloud services across healthcare, public procurement, and the banking sectors.
In healthcare, NHA is using AWS to build a robust digital health ecosystem. AWS cloud technology supports critical applications within the Ayushman Bharat scheme, including the Beneficiary Identification System and Transaction Management System, ensuring efficient management of healthcare services for over 550 million citizens.
Additionally, AWS helps the NHA deliver cloud solutions to support the digital transformation of India’s healthcare infrastructure, improving services under schemes such as the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Reportedly, PSBA, an umbrella group for 12 public sector banks, has chosen AWS as its cloud service provider.
This partnership will enable these banks to leverage AWS’s Community Cloud Services without separate procurement processes. By utilizing AWS cloud computing, the banks can secure, scale, and innovate in line with their digital transformation strategies.
Moreover, AWS’s partnership with GeM supports the growth of India’s e-procurement platform, which is the second-largest public procurement platform globally.
AWS powers GeM’s core e-procurement functions like bidding, reverse auctions, and payment processing, handling nearly INR 1,000 Cr in daily transactions.
GeM also relies on AWS cloud infrastructure to manage its marketplace operations and customer interactions, with 9,000 page views per second.
To further expand its presence, AWS announced an additional $12.7 billion (INR 1,05,600 Cr) investment in India by 2030, bringing its total investment to $16.4 billion (INR 1,36,500 Cr).
This significant investment is expected to contribute $23.3 billion (INR 1,94,700 Cr) to India’s GDP by 2030 and support 1,31,700 jobs annually in sectors like telecommunications, construction, and engineering.
In addition to these major collaborations, AWS is also working with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), powering its large-scale skilling platform, and the Swachchata App by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which uses AWS for real-time GIS and analytics-based dashboards.
Sharing thoughts, Pankaj Gupta, Leader of Public Sector at AWS India, said, “This investment is to expand the cloud infrastructure in the country. India is aiming for a $1 trillion digital economy and $5 trillion overall economy in the future, and this can be powered through cloud computing. Whether start-ups, enterprises, government, or public sector enterprises, everybody needs a massive scale of compute, network, and storage,”
