Apollo Launches India’s First 24×7 Toll-Free Cancer Care Helpline
The helpline offers personalised guidance, expert medical opinions, emotional counseling, and organ-specific navigation assistance.
Apollo Cancer Centres (ACC) has launched India’s first dedicated 24×7 toll-free cancer care helpline, 1800-203-1066. The helpline aims to provide reliable and timely support to cancer patients and their families.
Additionally, the helpline offers personalised guidance, expert medical opinions, emotional counseling, and organ-specific navigation assistance.
Dinesh Madhavan, President of Group Oncology & International at Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, said, “With the launch of India’s first toll-free cancer helpline, we further reinforce our commitment to accessible cancer care, early detection, and compassionate care—because timely conversations with experts can often be the turning point in winning over cancer.”
India’s cancer burden is projected to rise sharply to 2.08 million cases by 2040, marking a 57.5% increase from 2020. This increase underscores the critical need for accessible, early intervention and reliable information for patients navigating the complex cancer care pathway.
The helpline intends to fill gaps caused by misinformation, delayed care, and lack of early screening that worsen patient outcomes. It serves as a key contact point for those uncertain about where to start their cancer journey or whom to trust. Callers can get help clarifying treatment pathways, scheduling virtual consultations, and connecting with specialised Cancer Management Teams.
Cdr Jelson Kavalakkat, CEO of Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad, added, “Every call to the helpline represents a moment of uncertainty, whether it’s a newly diagnosed patient or a family seeking direction. With this service, we ensure that no one has to navigate the cancer journey alone. It offers structured, compassionate support exactly when it’s needed most. This helpline marks a pivotal step in proactive cancer care and embodies our commitment to making expert oncology guidance accessible to all anytime, anywhere.”
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly 1.4 million new cancer cases are registered annually in India. The helpline aims to reduce confusion, fear, and isolation often experienced by patients and caregivers by providing an accessible support platform.
