The company also announced new partnerships across enterprise, education, and agriculture to expand responsible AI adoption in the country.

US-based artificial intelligence company Anthropic has officially opened a new office in Bengaluru, strengthening its presence in India, which it identified as the second-largest market for its AI assistant, Claude.

The company also announced new partnerships across enterprise, education, and agriculture to expand responsible AI adoption in the country.

India accounts for nearly half of Claude’s usage for computer and mathematical tasks, including application development and system modernization. According to the company, its India run-rate revenue has doubled since it announced its market expansion in October 2025.

The Bengaluru office marks Anthropic’s second base in Asia after Tokyo. The India operations will be led by managing director Irina Ghose. The company said it plans to hire local talent and provide applied AI expertise to enterprises, digital-native firms, and startups building solutions using Claude tailored to the Indian market.

Among enterprise deployments, Air India is using Claude Code to accelerate custom software development and implement agentic AI workflows aimed at reducing costs. Cred reported twice as fast feature delivery and a 10% improvement in test coverage using Claude. Cognizant is deploying the technology to 350,000 employees globally for legacy system upgrades.

Startups are also expanding usage. Razorpay has integrated Claude into its risk systems. Enterpret and Emergent are leveraging Claude to power AI assistants and scale operations, with Emergent reporting growth to $25 million in annual recurring revenue.

The company stated that the India expansion will focus on applied AI deployment and sector-specific use cases, positioning Bengaluru as a regional hub for product development and enterprise engagement.
