Alcon Launches UNITY Surgical Platform for Advanced Eye Care in India

It features several first-to-market technologies, including UNITY 4D Phaco, HYPERVIT 30K, and the UNITY Intelligent Fluidics system, which enables surgeons to operate in more physiologic conditions without compromising efficiency.

Alcon, a global eye care company, announced the launch of its UNITY Surgical Platform in India with two configurations – the UNITY Vitreoretinal Cataract System (VCS) and the UNITY Cataract System (CS).

The combined VCS console is now available, while the standalone CS will be commercially launched in the coming months.

The UNITY platform is designed to enhance efficiency in both cataract and vitreoretinal surgery.

It features several first-to-market technologies, including UNITY 4D Phaco, HYPERVIT 30K, and the UNITY Intelligent Fluidics system, which enables surgeons to operate in more physiologic conditions without compromising efficiency.

India performs over 8 million cataract surgeries annually, among the highest in the world. With only one ophthalmologist available for every 100,000 people, the need for advanced and efficient surgical systems remains critical.

According to the company, the UNITY Intelligent Fluidics system introduces a unique pressure and flow control mechanism with real-time sensing, aimed at improving surgical stability. The UNITY platform also brings advancements in vitreoretinal surgery with tools such as the UNITY 27 Gauge Portfolio, UNITY TetraSpot, UNITY Illumination, UNITY Intelligent Sentry, UNITY Thermal Sentry, and UNITY 4D Phaco.
