ADIA to Invest $200 Mn in Indian MedTech Firm Meril

The agreement gives ADIA an approximate 3% stake in Meril, valuing the company at an enterprise value of USD 6.6 billion.

Micro Life Sciences Private Limited (Meril), a medical device manufacturer headquartered in India, has secured a USD 200 million investment from a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).

The agreement gives ADIA an approximate 3% stake in Meril, valuing the company at USD 6.6 billion.

The deal is currently pending approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI). Once cleared, Meril will be backed by two global investors: ADIA and Warburg Pincus.

Meril, founded by the Bilakhia Group, operates in key specialties including cardiovascular, structural heart, orthopaedics, endo-surgery, in-vitro diagnostics, and surgical robotics. The company runs globally certified manufacturing and R&D facilities across a 100-acre MedTech campus in Vapi.

The firm’s operations span over 150 countries through more than 35 global subsidiaries and a workforce of 13,000 employees. Meril supports over 10,000 healthcare professionals annually through its 12 international training academies.

Focus on R&D and Clinical Advancements

The company’s R&D portfolio includes over 200 technology platforms. Among its key developments are the Myval Transcatheter Heart Valve series, the MyClip Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair system, and the MISSO Surgical Robotic System.

Commenting on the investment, Sanjeev Bhatt, Senior Vice President of strategy at Meril, said, “This investment by ADIA reinforces confidence in Meril’s long-term vision and global ambitions.
