Abridge & Wolters Kluwer Integrate Real-Time Clinical Decision Support into Clinician Workflows

Abridge is deepening its partnership with Wolters Kluwer to embed UpToDate’s evidence-based clinical decision support directly into clinician workflows.
Announced on October 20, the integration is designed to deliver real-time insights and prompts during documentation, providing clinicians with contextual guidance based on patient conversations and medical charts.
As part of the initiative, Abridge is incorporating UpToDate content into its ambient AI clinical documentation, where many care decisions take place. The goal is to make clinical guidance aligned with national standards, local protocols, and site-specific guidelines more accessible at the point of care.
“Integrating UpToDate’s trusted clinical intelligence directly into clinical workflows is central to our mission of supporting clinicians at the point of care,” said Yaw Fellin, senior vice president and general manager of clinical decision support and provider services at Wolters Kluwer Health. “Our partnership with Abridge is a key part of that strategy — delivering reliable, evidence-based clinical insights within the documentation process to help health systems provide efficient and high-quality care.”
More than 200 health systems have partnered with Abridge for ambient AI clinical documentation. The expanded collaboration builds on an initial partnership announced in October 2024 and is already integrated into workflows at health systems such as Sacramento, California-based Sutter Health.
“We’re always looking for ways to cut down on clicks and help our clinicians spend more time with patients. Abridge and UpToDate are two platforms our teams already use and trust,” said Veena Jones, MD, CMIO at Sutter Health. “We’re excited about this integration and the possibility of further streamlining our workflow to benefit both clinicians and patients.”
Abridge is previewing the newly integrated capabilities at HLTH 2025 in Las Vegas.
