Abbott, a global healthcare company, has unveiled the 'Vertigo Coach' app in India, introducing a digital health solution to provide comprehensive support to individuals with vertigo.
This app offers users a range of tools and information to manage their vertigo condition throughout the day holistically'”an essential guide for vertigo sufferers, providing advice on lifestyle and exercises for effective condition management.
Available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the Vertigo Coach app presents a user-friendly platform featuring essential insights into symptoms, common triggers, and strategies for handling vertigo episodes.
The app educates users about symptoms and facilitates improved communication about managing vertigo episodes. It provides more meaningful interactions between patients and healthcare professionals.
In addition, the app streamlines treatment adherence by enabling users to keep track of their medications. By setting up automated push notifications and pill reminders, the app helps users take their prescribed medications on schedule, enhancing treatment outcomes.
Vertigo, characterised by a sudden and disorienting spinning sensation, affects over 9.9 million individuals in India. Vertigo generates a false perception of movement or spinning in one's surroundings.
These episodes primarily impact around 30% of older people aged 60 and above. Furthermore, women are more prone to vertigo than men.
Vivek V Kamath, MD, Abbott India Limited, noted that the app's user-friendly interface aims to equip people with vertigo to manage their condition and make informed lifestyle changes.
The Vertigo Coach app is pivotal in aiding patients and healthcare providers to adopt comprehensive measures to alleviate symptoms and enhance the overall patient experience.
