ŌURA & Cigna Healthcare Collaborate to Advance Preventive Care and Chronic Disease Management

The partnership underscores a growing alignment between wearable technology and healthcare systems, focusing on improving early intervention and patient well-being.

ŌURA and Cigna Healthcare have announced a strategic collaboration to combine continuous biometric insights from the Oura Ring with Cigna Healthcare’s expertise in preventive care and chronic disease management.

The partnership underscores a growing alignment between wearable technology and healthcare systems, focusing on improving early intervention and patient well-being.

The collaboration marks another step in Oura’s expansion from a consumer wellness device to a clinically relevant prevention tool, following its earlier partnership with Essence, a Medicare Advantage plan.

The initiative aims to leverage Oura’s ability to provide continuous health data to enhance preventive strategies and chronic condition management across Cigna Healthcare’s network. By combining biometric insights with established care models, the collaboration seeks to enable more proactive health monitoring and engagement.

Driving Higher Engagement and Utilization

One of the major challenges in employee wellness programs has been low utilization rates. Historically, employees have used only about 60% of the wellness stipends provided by employers, leaving approximately 40% of wellness funds unused in 2024. Oura’s wearable format aims to address this issue through improved engagement and compliance.

According to data shared, the Oura Ring demonstrates high compliance, with users wearing it an average of 23.5 hours per day. Within 30 days of usage, new users have reported perceived benefits including improved overall health (90%), better sleep (88%), reduced stress (81%), and enhanced productivity (79%). This consistent engagement positions the device as a practical fit for employer benefit programs where sustained usage and measurable outcomes are key.

As part of the collaboration, certain Cigna Healthcare clients are offering a complimentary Oura Ring 4 and a prepaid annual Oura Membership to eligible employees, integrating wellness tracking into everyday routines.

The partnership reflects an evolving approach toward embedding preventive health into routine care models through technology-enabled insights, potentially reshaping how individuals engage with their health data daily.
