UP to Emerge as India’s Largest Healthcare & Medical Technology Hub: CM Yogi Adityanath

Outlining the next phase of healthcare delivery, he stressed the use of technology, telemedicine, and AI-based screening at the village level to improve early diagnosis and ease of living.

Uttar Pradesh is poised to emerge as India’s largest healthcare and medical technology hub, catering not only to its own population but also to healthcare needs across neighbouring states, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

He outlined infrastructure and technology-driven initiatives underway to position Uttar Pradesh as a key center for healthcare delivery, medical research, and MedTech development.

Further, the CM informed that a Medical Device Park is being developed in the Yamuna Authority region, while a Bulk Drug Pharma Park is coming up in Lalitpur, with both projects progressing at what he described as a “war footing level”.

Moreover, the chief minister inaugurated the UP-IMRAS digital platform, aimed at streamlining approvals for clinical trials and medical research. Officials said UP-IMRAS, or Integrated Medical Research Application System, is an advanced integrated digital platform “developed to simplify, streamline, and bring transparency to research related to clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices”.

According to officials, the platform will allow researchers to submit proposals, applications, and permissions online, while the review, approval, and monitoring processes by the Institutional Ethics Committee will also be conducted digitally.

The chief minister also released a book containing Standard Operating Procedures for the Institutional Ethics Committee. Officials said the document details the “SOPs for 22 distinct procedures, ensuring uniformity, ethical compliance, and quality across clinical trials and related research processes”.

“This initiative represents the first organised effort of its kind not only in Uttar Pradesh but globally, marking a significant step toward strengthening the state’s international standing in medical research and health technology,” an official said.

Addressing the gathering, Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has seen a significant transformation in the health sector over the past eight-and-a-half years. He said the number of medical colleges in the state has increased from 40 before 2017 to 81 fully functional institutions, along with two AIIMS, more than 100 district hospitals, hundreds of community and primary health centers, and an extensive network of health and wellness centres.

The chief minister said the state has achieved success in controlling vector-borne diseases, including encephalitis, dengue, malaria, and kala-azar, with encephalitis deaths reduced to zero.

Outlining the next phase of healthcare delivery, he stressed the use of technology, telemedicine, and AI-based screening at the village level to improve early diagnosis and ease of living.
