UP Gov Presents INR 9.13 Lakh Cr Budget for 2026-27, Prioritises Health & Infrastructure
The budget outlines major spending in health and education. An amount of ₹1,023 crore has been proposed for opening 14 new medical colleges in the state.
The Uttar Pradesh government has presented its largest budget ever in the Assembly, outlining a total outlay of ₹9.13 lakh crore for the financial year 2026-27.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna tabled the budget, which places emphasis on youth, health and development ahead of the next Assembly elections. The allocations reflect a focus on medical infrastructure and industrial growth.
The budget outlines major spending in health and education. Education accounts for 12.4 percent of the total budget, while health has been allocated 6 percent. An amount of ₹1,023 crore has been proposed for opening 14 new medical colleges in the state. Crores of rupees have also been allocated for free treatment of cancer and other serious diseases.
Agriculture has been allocated 9 percent of the total budget. The government will launch the "Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment Scheme" to promote small industries MSMEs. Along the lines of "One District, One Product," a "One District, One Cuisine" scheme will also be introduced to promote local cuisine.
In the urban sector and technology space, the government will launch the "UP AI Mission." Additionally, ₹2,000 crore will be spent under the "Atal Infrastructure Mission" for urban infrastructure.
