Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda has recently reviewed the progress of AIIMS Bibinagar during a recent visit to Telangana, highlighting the institute's expansion across healthcare delivery, medical education, infrastructure, and research.

During the review, Union Health Minister JP Nadda announced that AIIMS Bibanagar, established under Phase-VII of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) in 2019, has become fully operational.

Located in Bibinagar near Hyderabad, the institute was launched in 2022 with an investment of over INR 1,100 crore and has since expanded its clinical, academic, and research capabilities.

According to the health minister, the hospital currently serves around 1,800 outpatients daily and operates 250 inpatient beds, supported by advanced diagnostic equipment including CT, MRI, and DEXA scan facilities.

The institute also delivers teleconsultation services through the eSanjeevani platform across 33 districts of Telangana and provides treatment under PM-JAY and Telangana's Aarogyasri health insurance scheme.

The Union Health Minister also noted that nearly 90 per cent of patients are registered under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), supporting the adoption of digital health records and interoperable healthcare services.

Highlighting the institute's research ecosystem, Nadda stated that the institute has received INR 64 crore in competitive research funding and has published over 1,100 research papers.

The institute is also collaborating with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on the development of the carbon-impregnated leg prosthesis 'ADIDOC', reflecting its focus on translational medical research.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, infrastructure development at AIIMS Bibinagar is nearing completion, with the remaining facilities expected to further strengthen tertiary care, medical education, and research capabilities at the institute. The Radiotherapy and Operation Theatre complex is expected to be completed shortly.

Commenting on the institute’s progress, Nadda said, “The BB Nagar AIIMS, launched in 2022 with an expenditure exceeding INR 1,100 crore, has reached the stage of providing full-fledged services in just four years. Currently, it is delivering medical services to over 1,800 patients daily. To date, it has provided telemedicine services to over 1.56 lakh individuals. In addition to medical services, this institution has achieved remarkable progress in the field of research, publishing over 1,156 research papers .”
