STAR Hospitals Hyderabad has expanded its presence to West Bengal with the inauguration of its first Information Centre and Air Ambulance Services in Ballygunge, Kolkata, strengthening access to specialised healthcare services for patients in the region.

The initiative is aimed at addressing the rising number of patients from Kolkata travelling to Hyderabad for advanced medical treatments. The new centre is designed to provide local consultation support, streamline treatment coordination, and enable continuity of care with STAR Hospitals’ specialist teams.

The Kolkata Information Centre will connect patients with senior consultants from multiple specialties, including liver care, oncology, hepatology, and urology. It will facilitate consultations with experts such as Dr Mettu Srinivas Reddy, Dr Ramu Chimakurthi, Dr Vipin Goel, Dr Sainath Bhethanabhotla, and Dr Vijay Kumar Sarma Madduri, who are associated with STAR Hospitals Hyderabad.

According to Dr Rahul Medakkar, Chief Executive Officer of STAR Hospitals Group, the centre is intended to serve as a local access point for patients seeking advanced medical guidance. He noted that the facility is aimed at making the journey from diagnosis to treatment more coordinated and efficient.

Dr Reddy highlighted the hospital’s experience in liver transplantation, stating that the team has performed over 5,000 liver transplants with a reported 95 per cent success rate. He added that the centre will help bring complex transplant procedures and advanced surgical care closer to patients in Kolkata.

In oncology, Dr Vipin Goel stated that the facility will provide access to robotic surgeries, advanced therapies such as CAR-T cell treatment, and structured second opinions for cancer care planning.

Dr Chimakurthi emphasized continuity of care for liver disease patients, including early evaluation and post-transplant follow-ups. Dr Madduri noted that the initiative will support access to robotic urology procedures and kidney transplant programmes with improved coordination.
