Northwell Health to Deploy Abridge’s Ambient AI Platform Across Hospitals

The rollout coincides with one of the country’s largest Epic Systems electronic health record implementations.

Northwell Health, the largest nonprofit health system in the Northeast, has announced the deployment of Abridge’s ambient artificial intelligence (AI) platform across its 28 hospitals.

The initiative aims to improve clinical documentation of patient conversations as part of the organization’s ongoing digital transformation.

Serving over three million patients annually with a workforce of 20,000 physicians and 22,000 nurses across 1,000 outpatient facilities in New York and Connecticut, Northwell selected Abridge’s AI platform for its scalability and ability to reduce administrative workloads for healthcare providers.

The rollout coincides with one of the country’s largest Epic Systems electronic health record implementations.

Abridge’s AI converts medical conversations into clinically useful and billable documentation in real time. It supports more than 55 specialties and 28 languages across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency department settings.

According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, Abridge has been shown to help reduce clinician burnout by up to 67%, supporting over 50 million medical conversations annually.

The collaboration underscores Northwell’s commitment to integrating AI technologies that enhance both clinical efficiency and patient care outcomes.
