Medtronic plc has announced the inauguration of its new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Pune, India, dedicated to its diabetes business, with a planned investment of $50 million over the next five years.
The company aims to create over 300 service and software jobs in the first year, with plans to double the workforce over the next four years.
The new GCC is expected to enhance customer care, advanced analytics, and digital technology services, and support patient financial services and operations. The centre is part of Medtronic’s global strategy to improve operational efficiency and expand access to care for people with diabetes.
“In recent years, India has firmly established itself as a leading global IT hub. The incredible depth of talent in Pune and across India aligns with our purpose: to support people living with diabetes with solutions that make life easier. This centre isn’t just about growth — it’s a meaningful step forward in our mission to simplify diabetes care and reach more people worldwide,” said Que Dallara, EVP & president, Medtronic Diabetes.
Vijendra Singh, Medtronic Diabetes Global Capability Centre India site director and senior customer service director, stated, “The inauguration of this centre not only enhances our capabilities but reinforces our dedication to transforming diabetes management worldwide through operational excellence. We plan to collaborate closely with local bodies to drive meaningful progress in healthcare and create talent opportunities in the region.”
India’s GCC market is projected to surpass $100 billion by 2030 and create over 2.5 million jobs, with Pune emerging as a key destination due to its talent base and tech ecosystem.
Medtronic recently announced its intent to separate the diabetes business into a standalone public company, to be named MiniMed.
