Medanta to Manage New 750-Bed Super-Specialty Hospital in New Delhi

This venture follows an operations and management agreement with the Dr Narayan Dutt Shirmali Foundation International Charitable Trust Society, under which Medanta will handle the hospital’s daily operations.

Global Health, the operator of Medanta hospitals, has announced a significant expansion into New Delhi with plans to manage a new 750-bed super-specialty hospital in Pitampura.

This venture follows an operations and management agreement with the Dr Narayan Dutt Shirmali Foundation International Charitable Trust Society, under which Medanta will handle the hospital’s daily operations.

The facility is expected to become operational within the next four years.

Investment Roadmap

Medanta plans to invest INR 600 Cr over the next three to four years for project capital expenditures, funded through a combination of internal funds and debt.

While the Dr Narayan Dutt Shirmali Foundation will oversee the development of the hospital’s main building and civil infrastructure, Medanta will finance and implement the internal fit-outs, including electrical, plumbing, furniture, and medical equipment.

The initial agreement term is set for 30 years, with provisions for extension based on mutually agreed terms.

Located on a 7-acre site near New Delhi’s Outer Ring Road, the 7.6 lakh sq. ft. facility is well-positioned to serve the region’s high-density residential population, according to Medanta.

The super-specialty hospital will offer a range of advanced medical services across more than 30 specialties, including cardiac care, neurosciences, cancer treatment, orthopedics, digestive and hepatobiliary sciences, robotic surgeries, regenerative medicine, and comprehensive transplant options.

Dr Naresh Trehan, chairman and managing director of Medanta, expressed enthusiasm for the new project, stating, “This large-scale format hospital aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality quaternary care and will allow us to serve communities in Delhi for decades to come.”

This expansion marks a strategic move by Medanta to enhance healthcare accessibility in New Delhi through comprehensive, advanced medical facilities.

In a previous development, In August, Global Health, the operator of Medanta Hospitals, allocated INR 1,200 Cr for a new super-specialty hospital in Mumbai.

This major investment, covering both land acquisition and construction, will be funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals. The upcoming facility, with a capacity of over 500 beds, aims to offer advanced medical care to residents of Mumbai and neighboring areas.
