These kiosks, capable of conducting up to 60 health tests, aim to enhance the physical well-being of students while boosting their academic performance.
In a move for student health and wellness, Arya Gurukul School in Kalyan, Maharashtra, and North East Public School in Rowta, Assam, have become the first schools in their respective regions to install Prophylaxis, a state-of-the-art preventive health kiosk.
These kiosks, capable of conducting up to 60 health tests, aim to enhance the physical well-being of students while boosting their academic performance.
Arya Gurukul, a CBSE-affiliated school, is the first in Maharashtra to receive the Prophylaxis health kiosk under the CBSE's hybrid school initiative.
This initiative focuses on integrating advanced technologies in schools that provide online education. Out of 900 hybrid schools planned nationwide, only 40 were selected, including Arya Gurukul.
The school inaugurated the health kiosk on Saturday, with the ceremony attended by Dr Santosh Varma, Dean of Government Medical College and Hospital Ambernath, and an alumnus of the school.
Bharat Malik, Chairman of Arya Gurukul, stated, “As part of our commitment to preventive healthcare and aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of ensuring healthcare for all, we are proud to introduce Prophylaxis. This integrated smart diagnostic tool is the first of its kind in Maharashtra.”
The kiosk will offer free health checks for students, including blood pressure, sugar levels, temperature, and other vital parameters.
Early detection of health issues will allow families and schools to take proactive measures, ensuring better long-term health outcomes. Initially available to students, the facility will later be extended to teachers and staff.
Similarly, the North East Public School in Rowta, Assam, has also installed the Prophylaxis health kiosk, setting a precedent in the northeastern region.
The kiosk will facilitate a range of health tests, such as vision, hearing, dental, and general health screenings, alongside mental health assessments.
Principal John VK said, “This facility will conduct tests for all students, enabling us to identify and diagnose health issues promptly, thereby improving their ability to focus on studies.”
Chairman Dr Maheswar Brahma highlighted the school’s alignment with the UN’s SDGs and its collaboration with Tech Avant-Garde (TAG), Carte Blanche Registered Schools, and Fischer Medical Ventures.
“The Prophylaxis kiosk is a revolutionary step toward preventive healthcare. It offers comprehensive solutions for monitoring and enhancing physical well-being,” he added.
The kiosks have been developed through a partnership with Tech Avant-Garde, which aims to revolutionize education through health initiatives.
TAG CEO Ali Sait said, “The Prophylaxis Preventive Health Program is a commitment to bring holistic change in the well-being of students and the community at large.”
By incorporating this technology, both schools aim to set a benchmark for integrating healthcare with education.
These kiosks not only address physical health but also contribute to improving mental health, creating a safer and healthier environment for students.
The introduction of Prophylaxis kiosks represents a significant step in bridging the gap between healthcare and education in India. These initiatives align with the government’s focus on preventive healthcare and demonstrate the potential of public-private partnerships in transforming the healthcare landscape.
