J&K LG Sinha Calls for Integrating AI into Diagnostic Processes to Improve Accuracy
Sinha highlighted that AI-powered tools can greatly reduce diagnostic errors and speed up clinical decision-making, especially in areas with limited specialist access.
Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has renewed the region's focus on digital transformation in healthcare, urging stakeholders to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) across diagnostic workflows to improve accuracy and accelerate treatment decisions.
Speaking at an event, Sinha emphasized that AI-driven tools have the potential to strengthen clinical outcomes and reduce dependency on overstretched diagnostic personnel, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the Union Territory.
Sinha highlighted that global health systems are rapidly adopting AI for radiology, pathology, and early screening, and India must keep pace with these advancements to ensure equitable access to high-quality diagnostics.
He noted that AI can provide rapid interpretations, flag abnormalities, and support doctors with data-backed insights. “Artificial intelligence will not replace clinicians, but it will amplify their capability to diagnose with precision and speed,” Sinha said.
The push for AI adoption aligns with the government's broader healthcare modernization strategy. Over the past few years, J&K has invested heavily in upgrading hospitals, digitizing patient records, and expanding telemedicine networks.
Sinha reiterated that integrating AI into these systems is the next logical step. “Our goal is to build a healthcare ecosystem where every citizen, regardless of geography, receives timely and accurate diagnostic support,” he added.
The government aims to combine AI with robust health infrastructure and frontline workforce training. “Technology is meaningful only when it reaches the last mile,” Sinha said, calling for collaborative efforts between government institutions, health-tech innovators, and medical colleges to deploy effective AI solutions.
The region has already piloted several digital health programs, including tele-consultation networks and digital patient health records under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
