IPC Launches QR Code-Enabled ADR Reporting Platform to Strengthen Patient Safety

This technology-driven initiative, showcased on a newly released IPC-PvPI poster, streamlines the process of ADR reporting and eliminates delays by enabling direct digital submission of adverse event details.

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has launched a QR code-enabled Online Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) Reporting Platform, marking a major step forward in digital healthcare transparency and patient safety.

Developed by the National Coordination Centre of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (NCC-PvPI), the new system allows patients, caregivers, and consumers to report suspected ADRs instantly by scanning a QR code through their smartphones, ensuring accessibility and convenience from anywhere.

This technology-driven initiative, showcased on a newly released IPC-PvPI poster, streamlines the process of ADR reporting and eliminates delays by enabling direct digital submission of adverse event details.

“We believe this initiative will simplify ADR reporting, allowing patients/caregivers and consumers to directly report suspected ADRs by scanning a QR code with their smartphones—anytime, anywhere. The streamlined digital interface ensures faster, more efficient reporting, reinforcing real-time surveillance and patient-centric pharmacovigilance,” an IPC official said.

The system enhances real-time data capture and strengthens India’s pharmacovigilance framework, aligning with the government’s broader goal of promoting patient-centered healthcare oversight through digital innovation.

The poster also features the PvPI Toll-Free Number (1800-180-3024), providing an additional channel for patients to report suspected drug reactions and contribute to safer medical practices across the country.
