India & UK Deepen Collaboration in AI-Driven Healthtech, Biotechnology, & Genomics

The statement also announced the establishment of the India–UK Joint Centre for AI to advance responsible and trustworthy AI across health, climate, fintech, and engineering biology.

India and the United Kingdom have reinforced their partnership in healthcare innovation, biotechnology, and genomics under the new India–UK Joint Statement released on October 9, 2025.

Both leaders welcomed the tangible progress made across critical and emerging technologies, including telecommunications, critical minerals, AI, and health tech.

The statement also announced the establishment of the India–UK Joint Centre for AI to advance responsible and trustworthy AI across health, climate, fintech, and engineering biology.

Further strengthening cooperation in biotechnology, strategic partnerships have been signed between institutions such as the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) UK and Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) institutions in India, Henry Royce Institute (HRI) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) and BRIC–Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (BRIC-CDFD).

These collaborations aim to deliver transformative outcomes in biomanufacturing, 3D bioprinting, and genomics.

The statement also highlighted a new joint investment in the Climate Tech Start-up Fund to support innovative entrepreneurs working in frontier sectors such as climate technology and AI.

Sir Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, made his first official visit to India from October 8 to 9, 2025.

During this two-day visit to Mumbai, India's financial capital, he was accompanied by a large delegation including trade ministers, business leaders, and cultural figures. He met PM Modi to discuss various critical areas. The visit followed the historic India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) signed in July 2025, which aims to boost bilateral trade and reduce tariffs.
