HealthTap Partners with LillyDirect to Expand Virtual Primary Care for Diabetes Patients
The virtual care provider will offer primary care-focused diabetes treatment and becomes the first primary care telehealth company available on LillyDirect.
In a major move, HealthTap is now an independent care provider on LillyDirect, Eli Lilly's digital health platform, with its latest partnership deal.

LillyDirect is a digital healthcare platform that supports patients living with obesity, migraine, and diabetes. It connects patients with healthcare providers and offers access to LillyDirect Pharmacy Solutions, a digital pharmacy for certain Lilly medicines such as GLP-1 Zepbound and insulin treatment Basaglar.
Through this integration, patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes can now access a primary care clinician virtually via LillyDirect.
These physicians provide ongoing care that addresses comorbidities and preventive health needs, along with medication management support and lab reviews. Patients can also message their physicians between visits for continued care.
While patients can reach HealthTap through LillyDirect, HealthTap providers are not informed whether the patient came through the platform or directly via HealthTap. The providers bill patients or their insurers for care, and HealthTap accepts commercial insurance, Medicare Advantage, and some Medicaid programs.
The partnership “signals a shift in how pharmaceutical companies and primary care can work together responsibly to improve chronic-condition management,” said Sean Mehra, CEO and co-founder of HealthTap.
The partnership is designed to make it easier for patients visiting LillyDirect to connect with a primary care physician.
Currently, about 83 million Americans live in areas lacking adequate access to primary care clinicians, and more than 38 million Americans are living with diabetes.
“Our shared goal is to make comprehensive, continuous primary care accessible to more people living with diabetes (and other conditions and prevention goals) — especially those who might otherwise rely on fragmented or transactional care models,” Mehra said.
“For Lilly, that means ensuring patients accessing their medicines can easily find physicians who support safe, ongoing care. For HealthTap, it advances our mission to place a primary care doctor at every American’s fingertips, empowering millions to build enduring doctor-patient relationships that improve outcomes and lower long-term costs.”
Other companies offering virtual primary care include Teladoc, MD Live, and Carbon Health.
