Healthcare, Medical Sciences to Benefit from AI: Sunil Mittal

The number of AI users in India could become greater than in any other part of the world in the next few years

Sectors such as healthcare, education, deep research and medical sciences are set to flourish with the power of artificial intelligence, said Sunil Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, on day four of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

“We can talk about healthcare, education, deep research, medical sciences... all those areas will flourish on the back of this (AI). From our company’s standpoint, AI is becoming a really integral part of how we operate, how we serve our customers, build our networks and manage our networks,” Mittal said.

He reiterated that AI is now embedded in how the Indian conglomerate operates and engages with customers, while stressing the importance of keeping AI open for the benefit of all.

During the same conversation, Narayen spoke about the wider implications of AI adoption, noting that the number of AI users in India could become greater than in any other part of the world in the next few years. He said one key area India can focus on is content authenticity as AI usage scales rapidly.

The Summit, which began on February 16 and continued till February 21st, has brought together participants from over 100 countries, including heads of government, ministers, industry leaders, innovators, policymakers, researchers and technology experts. The theme of the Summit is Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya, or welfare for all.

Highlighting the expanding role of artificial intelligence across sectors, the PM tweeted, "AI today is transforming several sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, governance and enterprise. The AI Impact Summit will enrich global discourse on diverse aspects of AI, such as innovation, collaboration, responsible use and more. I am confident that the outcomes of the Summit will help shape a future that is progressive, innovative and opportunity-driven."
