Chandra emphasized the importance of the document, describing it as a reliable source of information on various aspects of the National Health Mission (NHM).
Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra has called for the integration of the Health Management Information System (HMIS) portal with other health ministry portals to ensure timely data uploads and accurate analysis.
In a recent event, Chandra emphasized the importance of the document, describing it as a reliable source of information on various aspects of the National Health Mission (NHM).
"The annual publication is a valuable document furnishing much-needed information on manpower and infrastructure within the NHM, helpful in policy-making, improving processes and problem-solving," he said.
The report provides a comparative analysis across states, highlighting the availability and deficiencies in manpower and infrastructure.
Chandra noted that the data is crucial for understanding the needs of different states, identifying priority areas, and formulating targeted policies and campaigns.
He also underscored the value of the health statistics in comparing the performance of states on various health parameters.
The document is published annually since 1992. It offers comprehensive data on health infrastructure and human resources as of March 31 each year.
This information is vital for stakeholders in the health sector, supporting effective planning, monitoring, and management of healthcare infrastructure nationwide.
Moreover, it serves as a foundational tool for identifying gaps and addressing needs in rural, urban, and tribal regions.
In April, the Union Health Secretary called upon states and union territories to expedite the integration of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) with various health portals to enhance digital healthcare services.
According to Chandra, linking ABHA with platforms such as Reproductive Child Health (RCH) and National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NIKSHAY) is crucial for optimizing the benefits of digital health records.
As per data from the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) dashboard, a total of 5,894.60 Lakh ABHA IDs have been created across the country as of April 3, 2024.
However, the number of beneficiaries linked with ABHA under specific programs remains relatively low.
Only 827.99 Lakhs, 0.89 Lakhs, 15.78 Lakhs, 2.46 Lakhs, 0.056 Lakhs, and 0.17 Lakhs beneficiaries are linked under Non-communicable Diseases (NCD), Sickle Cell, RCH, NIKSHAY, National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP), and Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP), respectively.
