Cipla Commits INR 200 Cr Investment to Expand Manufacturing Facility in Karnataka

The expansion is expected to enhance the pharma company's manufacturing capacity, with the upgraded facility scheduled to commence operations later this year.

Pharmaceutical major Cipla is set to invest INR 200 crore in Karnataka, aimed at expand their manufacturing operations.

The development was shared by Karnataka Industries Minister M B Patil during a recent industry event.

According to the minister, the investment will be directed towards expanding the capacity of Cipla's existing manufacturing facility in Bommasandra.

The expansion is expected to enhance the pharma company's manufacturing capacity, with the upgraded facility scheduled to commence operations later this year.

According to the company, the investment is aimed at expanding production capabilities to support growing market demand.

Alongside pharma investment, plant-protein manufacturer Rocket India will invest INR 100 crore to expand its manufacturing unit at Gokak in Belagavi district.

The latest investment also follows Cipla's continued efforts to strengthen its pharmaceutical portfolio through strategic acquisitions.

In November 2025, the company announced the acquisition of Inzpera Healthsciences Limited for approximately INR 110.65 crore.

Alongside the confirmed investments, the Karnataka government held discussions with several leading companies, including representatives from Blackstone, Saint-Gobain, Horizon, Henkel, KEC International, and ideaForge Technology regarding potential investment opportunities to explore future investment opportunities across high-growth sectors.

The announcement comes as Karnataka continues to strengthen its pharmaceutical and life sciences ecosystem by attracting fresh manufacturing investments. It also follows the recent entry of Hyderabad-based Graviti Pharma into Karnataka, as the company expands its operations beyond Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to strengthen its presence in key domestic pharmaceutical markets.
