August AI Raises $3 Mn from Accel & Claypond Capital
The platform supports Indian vernacular languages to help reach a wider audience that often delays seeking medical assistance.
Bengaluru-based Healthtech platform August AI has raised $3 million in funding from Accel and Claypond Capital, the family office of Ranjan Pai.
Founded in 2022, August AI provides an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot that supports users with medical needs before and after doctor consultations. The platform aims to make health information more accessible and assist users in understanding symptoms, interpreting reports, and tracking recovery.
The company plans to utilize the funds for product development, expanding its medical knowledge base, and customer acquisition.
“August is designed to be an AI health companion to support people throughout their health journey, including understanding symptoms, interpreting reports, and sharing feelings,” said Anuruddh Mishra, founder and chief executive of the company.
Users can upload documents and have their reports analyzed through the chatbot. “We have a network of doctors and also work with some of the largest hospitals out of India, which helps us refine these systems,” Mishra told ET.
The platform supports Indian vernacular languages to help reach a wider audience that often delays seeking medical assistance. Besides strengthening its presence in India, August AI also plans to enter the US market. It currently serves more than 3.5 million users across 160 countries.
“Health-related search trends on Google and now ChatGPT point to a massive underserved need for personalised and accessible health information globally,” said Subrata Mitra, partner at Accel.
“August AI has cracked the code on AI-assisted healthcare through high clinical accuracy, genuine user trust, and a reliable model that complements rather than competes with doctors and care providers,” said Pai.
