AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas and IIT Bhubaneswar Director Shreepad Karmalkar signed the MoU in the AIIMS premises.
In a first-of-its-kind effort to promote academic and research collaboration in various health and technology areas, two premier institutes from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, AIIMS Bhubaneswar and IIT Bhubaneswar, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate medical Science with technology for providing a better and more equipped health care service.
Early disease diagnosis and outbreaks, artificial intelligence and data analytics, biomedical engineering and technology, disease prediction modeling, digital health, and the creation of diagnostic and therapeutic tools, equipment, and strategies are all areas in which the two institutes have agreed to work together to advance public health applications.
The partnership will concentrate on the development of materials, apps, wearable sensors, image-based diagnostics, smart health monitoring, and early warning systems, as well as the application of AI to health disorders. It will investigate how AI-enabled patient care services can make use of cutting-edge medical equipment.
Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, executive director of AIIMS, said that the project will help solve problems in public health and patient care in the region. He asserted that the application of cutting-edge technology in healthcare will have enormous translational value for disease diagnosis and treatment.
In addition, a biomedical signal processing advanced research center, advanced characterization and detector fabrication for imaging, additive manufacturing for designed materials, and the development of bio trackers and biosensors for mental health care will be established. Also, in order to guarantee academic excellence, both institutes have agreed to facilitate a faculty-student exchange program and training courses.
