ŌURA’s new features aim to leverage a unique combination of AI, biometric data, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
ŌURA, the health technology company behind the leading smart ring, has expanded its suite of health tracking tools by launching two new AI-driven metabolic health features: Meals and Glucose.
These additions significantly advance ŌURA’s evolution toward becoming a comprehensive, personalized health platform, merging biometric insights with artificial intelligence and continuous glucose data from Stelo by Dexcom.
The new features aim to provide users with real-time, actionable guidance on their dietary choices and metabolic responses, addressing a critical gap in personalized preventive health and metabolic well-being.
Metabolic health is central to long-term vitality and disease prevention, influencing everything from energy levels and mood to cardiovascular and neurological outcomes.
Globally, the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and hypertension continues to rise, increasing the burden on public health systems.
Poor metabolic health is not only linked to chronic diseases such as stroke and heart disease. Still, it can also manifest in more subtle, daily symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, and irregular sleep.
While lifestyle modifications remain an effective method to improve metabolic health, most individuals lack the data or tools to understand which changes will have the greatest personal impact.
ŌURA’s new features aim to change that by leveraging a unique combination of AI, biometric data, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
“Our product roadmap for this year is built on a robust investment in AI-forward offerings that enable a deeper understanding of the dynamic interplay of key health factors,” said Holly Shelton, Chief Product Officer at ŌURA.
“Our bodies all process food in different ways, which is why we’re leveraging a unique combination of ŌURA’s extensive biometric tracking, generative AI, and Stelo glucose data to address a critical need for more individualized and accessible metabolic health solutions.”
The Meals feature, now fully integrated into the Ōura App after testing in Ōura Labs, allows users to analyze their meals simply by taking a photo.
The AI-powered system then provides detailed nutritional insights and food recognition, emphasizing how meals impact energy levels and overall health.
Unlike traditional calorie-counting tools, Meals focuses on macronutrient balance—such as protein, fiber, fats, carbohydrates, and added sugars—and offers nonjudgmental, data-backed feedback through Ōura Advisor, the platform’s AI-powered health coach.
Users receive a “Nutrition Breakdown” summary that quantifies their meals and provides context, helping them make smarter food choices to avoid energy crashes or nutrient imbalances.
This approach aligns with ŌURA’s broader vision of empowering users to make informed decisions without relying solely on calorie counts, which often lack deeper insights into food quality and metabolic responses.
In a first-of-its-kind partnership, ŌURA has teamed up with Dexcom, a leader in glucose monitoring technology, to integrate Dexcom’s Stelo glucose biosensor with the Ōura Ring ecosystem.
Stelo, the first FDA-cleared, over-the-counter glucose sensor, is a small wearable device that attaches to the back of the upper arm and provides continuous glucose readings.
Previously available only by prescription, Stelo is now accessible to a wider audience, including people with Type 2 diabetes not on insulin or individuals with prediabetes.
Through the new Glucose feature, users will be able to view daily glucose trends alongside sleep, stress, activity, and meal data—all within the Ōura App.
The tool will also include contextual graphs and a novel metric called “Time Above Range,” which tracks the duration during which glucose levels exceed healthy thresholds.
“By integrating with ŌURA, we’re bringing the first glucose biosensor and smart ring integration to the market, providing a one-of-a-kind and personalized metabolic health experience,” said Jake Leach, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Dexcom.
Both Meals and Glucose are integrated with Ōura Advisor, ŌURA’s AI-powered virtual health coach built on large language models (LLMs).
The Advisor provides personalized, contextual, and empathetic guidance across multiple health domains, including nutrition, sleep, and metabolic function.
By interpreting biometric data and offering clear, actionable suggestions, Ōura Advisor enhances the user experience and supports better decision-making without manual tracking or complex health literacy.
Both the Meals and Glucose features are now available to U.S. users on both iOS and Android platforms. Meals is expected to roll out internationally later this year.
New and existing members can purchase Stelo directly from ŌURA’s website for $99. It includes two sensors, each with a wear time of up to 15 days.
Stelo is FDA-cleared for adults 18 and older who are not on insulin. It is eligible for FSA/HSA reimbursement and can be purchased either bundled with an Ōura Ring or separately.
