Tripura will receive 48 AI-enabled portable handheld X-ray machines, three 1.5 Tesla MRI scanners, and three Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) mammography units.
The government of Tripura has collaborated with the Center for deploying modern medical machines and equipment under the Prime Minister’s Fund to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the northeastern state.
Sharing in a social media post, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Tripura Health and Family Welfare Department.
Under the agreement, Tripura will receive 48 AI-enabled portable handheld X-ray machines, three 1.5 Tesla MRI scanners, and three Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) mammography units.
The equipment is expected to enhance diagnostic capabilities and facilitate early detection of critical illnesses.
According to the Chief Minister, the MRI scanners and mammography units will be installed at the district hospitals in Dhalai, North Tripura, and Gomati, significantly strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.
The initiative seeks to expand access to advanced medical services for residents of these regions.
According to officials, the deployment of AI-powered X-ray machines and advanced imaging systems is expected to enhance early disease detection, improve diagnostic accuracy, and bring technology-driven healthcare closer to citizens.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Tripura Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, National Health Mission Director Saju Wahid, and senior officials from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the state health department.
The initiative aims to boost the Centre's efforts to modernize healthcare infrastructure and ensure accessible, affordable, and technology-driven medical services across Tripura.
Earlier this year, Tripura rolled out a QR-Based Digital Health System through the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS), enabling faster patient registration, digital access to records, and improved healthcare delivery across government facilities statewide.
The initiative aimed at enabling quick outpatient registration, digital storage of medical records, and seamless service delivery across hospitals and primary health centers.
