Telangana Plans Health Innovation Push with Focus on Precision Metabolic Care Pilot Across State-Run Hospitals

Sridhar Babu highlighted the state government’s plans to leverage emerging technologies to improve healthcare delivery and build collaboration among medical professionals, researchers and technology firms.

Telangana is positioning itself as a global destination for health innovation by seeking to bridge its established information technology, pharmaceutical, and life sciences sectors. Industries and IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu outlined the vision while addressing a recent event in Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering, Sridhar Babu highlighted the state government’s plans to leverage emerging technologies to improve healthcare delivery and build collaboration among medical professionals, researchers and technology firms.

The minister emphasised the need to address the rising prevalence of diabetes and metabolic disorders, which he attributed largely to changing lifestyle patterns.

He said that while conventional medical treatments remain essential, data-driven technology and early diagnostic tools are important for managing chronic conditions more effectively.

To support this approach, the state government is encouraging partnerships between healthtech startups and research institutions. Sridhar Babu also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting innovations aimed at addressing healthcare gaps and invited stakeholders to collaborate on strengthening public health infrastructure across Telangana.

As part of a new proof of concept initiative, the government plans to implement a precision-based metabolic care protocol for 50 selected patients across state-run hospitals.

The pilot will evaluate the application of digital health tools in a clinical setting and could support broader adoption of precision medicine within Telangana’s public healthcare system.
