Telangana Launches India's First Green Pharma-Focused Applied AI CoE to Build Future-Ready Life Sciences Workforce

The Telangana Government has announced the launch of India's first Green Pharma-focused Applied AI Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad in collaboration with Microsoft India, 1M1B Foundation and MeitY Startup Hub.
Scheduled to become operational in August 2026, the Centre will train students and professionals in applied artificial intelligence, sustainable manufacturing and emerging technologies while supporting Telangana's vision of generating over five lakh jobs in the life sciences sector.

The initiative aligns with the Telangana Next-Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026-30, which prioritises advanced technologies, sustainability and workforce development to enhance the state's global competitiveness in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical innovation.
With industries increasingly adopting artificial intelligence to improve research, manufacturing efficiency, quality assurance and supply chain management, demand for professionals who understand both AI and sustainable production practices continues to grow.
The new Centre aims to bridge this skills gap by offering training in Applied AI, green technologies and sustainable manufacturing tailored to the evolving requirements of the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors.
The roadmap for the Green Pharma-focused Applied AI Centre of Excellence was presented to ITEC and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla at the Telangana State Secretariat.
The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Telangana's target of creating more than five lakh jobs across the life sciences ecosystem by building a workforce equipped with digital and sustainability-focused capabilities.
The programme is also expected to improve collaboration between academia and industry, helping young professionals gain practical exposure to technologies that are increasingly shaping pharmaceutical manufacturing.
