Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Namo Hospital in Daman while reaffirming the government's commitment to building a digitally connected healthcare ecosystem.

The inauguration took place alongside the launch, dedication, and foundation laying of development projects worth around INR 2,970 Cr across Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

While the projects span sectors such as connectivity, education, tourism, and urban development, healthcare remained a central theme of the Prime Minister's address.

Through the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, the government has been building a framework that connects patients, healthcare providers, and health facilities through digital identities and interoperable health records.

Highlighting this broader strategy, Modi emphasized the government's focus on underserved populations through healthcare initiatives that combine physical and digital infrastructure.

He pointed to programmes such as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and the Digital Health Mission as examples of efforts intended to bring healthcare services closer to citizens.

“Today, even the poorest of the poor have the facility of an Ayushman card and the solid assurance of free medical treatment up to 5 lakh rupees,” Modi said, referring to the Ayushman Bharat health coverage programme.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the financial impact of healthcare reforms and access initiatives. “Through the Ayushman card and Jan Aushadhi Kendras alone, around two and a quarter lakh crore rupees of the poor and middle class have been successfully saved,” he said.

“The people of this region will now get the immense benefit of even better and highly advanced healthcare,” he affirmed.

The Prime Minister also referenced improvements in maternal and child health outcomes and broader healthcare coverage achieved through national health programmes.

“Today Ayushman Bharat has fundamentally changed those figures, and now more than 60 per cent of families are getting this vital security,” he noted.

The opening of Namo Hospital follows the operationalization of the Namo Hospital in Silvassa and comes amid efforts to strengthen healthcare capacity in the region.

Modi said the addition of advanced healthcare infrastructure and local postgraduate medical education opportunities would further improve healthcare access for residents.
