Narayana Hrudayalaya Signs Agreement to Operate 100-Bed Kolkata Hospital

The agreement is intended to leverage Narayana Hrudayalaya’s healthcare and hospital management expertise to support the facility’s long-term sustainability and service capacity.

Narayana Hrudayalaya has entered into an Operation and Management Agreement with Mission of Mercy Hospital and Research Centre and The Assemblies of God of North India to operate and manage the Mission of Mercy Hospital & Research Centre at Park Street, Kolkata.

Under the agreement, Narayana Hrudayalaya has been appointed on an exclusive basis to run, manage, operate, direct and control the hospital on a long-term basis.

The existing Mission of Mercy Hospital & Research Centre comprises a basement, ground floor and six upper floors, with an aggregate area of approximately 63,240.37 square feet and a capacity of 100 beds.

The agreement is intended to leverage Narayana Hrudayalaya’s healthcare and hospital management expertise to support the facility’s long-term sustainability and service capacity.

The agreement is structured as an operation and management arrangement and does not transfer ownership, lease rights, or any other interest in the underlying land to Narayana Hrudayalaya.

As per reports, the agreement is subject to customary payment terms, representations, warranties and obligations.

According to the regulatory filings, the commencement of commercial operations of the Hospital by the Company is subject to satisfaction of certain conditions precedent by the respective parties, which may take up to 12 months from the date of execution of the Agreement.

Founded in 1977, Mission of Mercy Hospital & Research Centre is based in Kolkata and provides a range of healthcare services.

The hospital offers emergency and trauma care services, diagnostic facilities, and includes a pathology laboratory, a 24-hour pharmacy, intensive care units, critical-care ambulance services, and a Level-II neonatal care unit.

Narayana Hrudayalaya (Narayana Health), founded in 2000 by Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty and headquartered in Bengaluru, is one of the leading healthcare service providers, operating a chain of multispecialty, tertiary, and primary healthcare facilities.

The latest agreement expands Narayana Hrudayalaya's operational footprint in Kolkata through a management arrangement.

The new development follows Narayana’s recent announcement to expand its services to add around 500 hospital beds in Delhi-NCR by FY29 to strengthen its presence in the region.

Currently, Narayana Health operates a network of 55 Healthcare facilities spread across India, along with an overseas presence in the Cayman Islands and the United Kingdom, with over 5,900 operational beds and a capacity of over 6,200 beds.
