Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has partnered with OpenAI to integrate artificial intelligence tools across teaching, research, and academic administration. The collaboration will introduce AI-powered resources into academic programs with the stated objective of enhancing learning outcomes and accelerating research productivity.
Under the partnership, MAHE will deploy advanced AI tools to support personalized learning, curriculum development, and research activities. Faculty members will gain access to AI-enabled platforms for academic planning and innovation, while students will receive structured exposure to AI applications relevant to their respective disciplines.
Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, said the partnership marks a strategic step in embedding AI across institutional functions. “Our partnership with OpenAI represents a strategic step toward embedding AI as a transformative enabler across teaching, research, and administration. By integrating advanced AI tools responsibly, we aim to enhance learning outcomes, accelerate research impact, and prepare our students for leadership in an AI-driven world,” he said.
The collaboration will focus on building AI literacy across disciplines, including Health Sciences, Technology and Science, Management, Law, Humanities and Social Sciences, and allied fields. The university plans to promote interdisciplinary research using AI to address complex real-world challenges.
MAHE also intends to establish structured AI governance guidelines to ensure responsible, ethical, and transparent use of artificial intelligence across academic functions. The governance framework is expected to define usage standards, oversight mechanisms, and compliance protocols related to AI deployment within the institution.
