GVK Group has ventured into the diagnostics and specialty healthcare sector, with plans to establish a network of healthcare and wellness facilities under the GVK Health Hub brand across India.

The new initiative is supported and funded by EMRI Green Health Services. This not-for-profit emergency services provider manages the 108 emergency response services and is part of GVK Group.

A 25,000 sq ft pilot facility has been launched in Jubilee Hills with an investment of approximately INR 40 Cr. Plans are underway to expand to additional centers in Hyderabad before replicating this hub format across the state and country.

Ramsekhar Manchikalapati, director, EMRI Green Health Services, stated that this will leverage EMRI's existing network in nearly 16 states.

As a not-for-profit entity, EMRI Green Health Services will help GVK Health Hub remain price-competitive and offer subsidized services to economically disadvantaged patients. This support aims to make quality healthcare accessible to a broader population.

Facility Features

GVK Health Hub medical director Dr N Ganapathi Sastry emphasized that the facility aims to bridge the gap in providing affordable, high-quality healthcare outside tertiary hospital settings.

The hub is equipped with AI-powered advanced diagnostics and radiology facilities, including a central lab, MRI, CT, and ultrasound.

It also features specialty clinics for various ailments such as diabetes, ophthalmology, gynecology, rheumatology, and nephrology, along with offering daycare surgical procedures.

Market Context

The Indian diagnostics market was valued at approximately $13 billion in 2023 and is projected to double by 2028.

This sector includes prominent players such as Dr Lal Pathlabs, Tata 1MG, Thyrocare, Metropolis Healthcare, Vijaya Diagnostics, Quest Diagnostics, and MedPlus Diagnostics, along with hospital-based providers such as Apollo Hospitals Enterprise and Max Healthcare.

In addition to its healthcare ventures, GVK Group has a presence in the contract discovery, development, and manufacturing space through Aragen Lifesciences.

With the backing of EMRI Green Health Services, this new venture aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality for all segments of the population.

In a similar development, last month, Mumbai-based Thyrocare Technologies acquired Polo Labs' diagnostic and pathology business for a cash consideration of INR 4.26 Cr.

The company entered a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) with Polo Labs and its existing shareholders. This strategic move aims to expand Thyrocare's diagnostic and pathological services.
