Portrait VSM integrates wireless connectivity and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) compatibility, streamlining user workflows and automating routine tasks.

GE Healthcare has received 510(k) clearance from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Portrait VSM vital signs monitor.

This innovative device is designed to provide clinicians with an accurate view of patient vital signs, facilitating timely clinical decisions.

Leveraging the SuperSTAT non-invasive blood pressure algorithm, the Portrait VSM ensures precise and accurate measurement readings, representing the next evolution of the DINAMAP legacy.

The company states that the Portrait VSM is equipped with wireless connectivity and seamless Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integration, catering to user workflows and automating routine tasks.

Through customized Early Warning Scores (EWS), care teams can focus on patient care while the monitor streamlines vital sign measurements.

Building on GE Healthcare's family of portrait monitoring solutions, the Portrait VSM can connect with the latest iteration of the portrait mobile wireless and wearable continuous monitoring solution.

This integration allows for unified patient data workflow and ensures patient mobility, enhancing clinical efficiency.

Key Features of Portrait VSM

A key feature of the Portrait VSM is its ability to streamline clinical rounding processes. With a single click of the barcode scanner, the monitor imports patient demographic data and continuously monitors vital signs from portrait mobile.

This efficient workflow reduces the steps required for data capture and charting, enabling accurate vital sign charting and eliminating delays associated with manual data entry.

By facilitating uninterrupted data flow and continuous vital sign monitoring, the Portrait VSM empowers clinicians to detect a patient's decline in real-time and intervene promptly.

How does it Work?

Traditional spot-check methods for measuring vital signs every 4-6 hours may miss early signs of patient deterioration.

GE Healthcare's Portrait VSM addresses this challenge by combining standard spot check capability with continuous patient monitoring through connectivity to portrait mobile.

Early detection of patient deterioration is crucial, particularly post-surgery, to prevent hazardous consequences. With Portrait VSM, care teams can optimize patient care by ensuring timely interventions and continuously monitoring patient vital signs.

Per the company, the introduction of Portrait VSM is aligned with GE Healthcare's commitment to tackling healthcare challenges and driving efficiencies for care teams.

Neal Sandy, general manager, Monitoring Solutions at GE Healthcare, emphasizes the clinical performance and capabilities of Portrait VSM, enabling care teams to spend more valuable time with their patients.

"With the addition of Portrait VSM, we are excited about this next step for the Portrait Ecosystem that was designed to support the right level of patient monitoring in observational care through a single, unified workflow," he added.

Additionally, the device offers workflow efficiencies and capabilities to support hospitals and care teams in navigating current challenges, as highlighted by GE Healthcare's Reimagining Better Health study.

By providing clinicians with accurate vital sign measurements and seamless integration with EMR systems, the Portrait VSM aims to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

In another recent development, GE Healthcare unveiled the Voluson Signature 20 and 18 ultrasound systems for women's healthcare diagnostics.

These latest systems are powered by AI, advanced technological tools, and ergonomic design, enabling faster examination for clinicians and delivering clear insights into various conditions affecting women's health.
