Fitterfly by PB Health Secures Patent for PGR Technology
According to Fitterfly, this personalization has already enabled more than 40,000 members to improve their health.
Fitterfly by PB Health has been granted a patent by the Government of India for its Personalised Glycemic Response technology, a signature AI-powered engine that predicts how food and activity may influence blood sugar levels hours in advance, already demonstrating measurable impact on diabetes outcomes at scale.
The patented AI-driven system lies at the heart of the company's Diabetes Care Programs and is specifically aimed at providing highly personalized, data-led guidance that simplifies the complexity of everyday decision-making for individuals living with diabetes.
It uses machine learning algorithms to predict fluctuations in blood glucose up to three hours in advance and helps people understand how different meals and activities could affect their blood sugar.
According to Fitterfly, this personalization has already enabled more than 40,000 members to improve their health.
The model, trained on over 10,00,000 CGM data points from 1,21,000 meals, over 2,800 sensors, and over 2,000 unique users, integrates variables such as age, gender, HbA1c, BMI, heart rate, step counts, co-morbidities, and multiple CGM-derived metrics to offer accurate glucose predictions and real-time recommendations.
Results from 2025 reveal that of users who signed up with HbA1c levels above 9%, 94% recorded an average drop of 2.8 points within six to twelve months. Improvements have also been seen across lipid profiles, blood pressure and in achieving and sustaining weight reduction.
“PGR allows us to transcend generic protocols and offer care that evolves with each member’s data and behavior. It results in better adherence, superior glucose control and more consistent progress across key health parameters,” said Dr Vineet Nair, Head of Program Design, Fitterfly.
Reflecting on the broader implications of such technology, Dr Arbinder Singal, Head, Preventive & Digital Health at PB Health and Co-founder at Fitterfly, said, "Nearly 40 per cent of Indian adults live with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity. Technology like PGR has the power to create real change when it reaches people at scale. Right from which foods work for which person to helping people manage stress, sleep, and medication, tech empowerment and tracking can improve outcomes, lower risk of progression and hospitalisations”.
“Diabetes remains the biggest cost driver for insurance companies, and we are working closely with leading insurers offering care plans and shifting the focus from treatment to long-term health stability. It is a crucial step towards building a more sustainable and future-ready healthcare model for India," he added.
Clinical outcomes of its programs indicate that large numbers of people with early-stage type 2 diabetes can achieve remission of diabetes, improving quality of life and reducing healthcare expenditure while improving productivity.
