Bharat1.ai & CHARAKA Partner to Launch Swasthya AI Lab for Healthcare Data Infrastructure

The lab will focus on improving holistic healthcare outcomes through secure, high-integrity healthcare data infrastructure to support AI-based research, model development, and innovation.

Bharat1.ai has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre of Excellence for HealthTech, MedTech, and Assistive Technologies (CHARAKA CoE), an initiative by the IT BT Department, Government of Karnataka, to establish the Swasthya AI Lab.

The lab will focus on improving holistic healthcare outcomes through secure, high-integrity healthcare data infrastructure to support artificial intelligence (AI)-based research, model development, and innovation.

The latest facility aims to address challenges around the availability of clinical-grade, curated, and standardised health datasets for healthcare R&D, innovations, and AI applications.

The initiative seeks to deploy scalable intelligent solutions designed to bridge the gap between dataset accessibility and robust standards for privacy, data security, and regulatory governance.

By integrating high-impact public health data ecosystems with frontier architectures, the Swasthya AI Lab will focus on two core strategic pillars, including a Structured Model Validation Engine, intended to provide a framework for benchmarking healthcare AI models for real-world clinical safety, algorithmic bias mitigation, and practical utility.

The lab will also develop population-scale foundation models trained on diverse, high-burden global and regional health datasets.

The models are intended to address systemic medical challenges across different populations and disease burdens.

Another key component of the partnership includes Privacy-Preserving Sandbox Infrastructure aimed at enabling secure computational environments for researchers.

The infrastructure will leverage Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) intended to support researchers and enterprise builders in analyzing sensitive records without compromising data security.

The latest partnership initiative follows CHARAKA’S ongoing efforts to expand digital healthcare infrastructure across Karnataka.

In a recent development, the organisation partnered with TSI to explore initiatives aimed at strengthening the wider telemedicine and digital health ecosystem across the state.
