Wipro & IISc Forge Strategic Alliance to Advance AI & Quantum Technologies

The partnership centers on developing quantum algorithms, neurosymbolic AI models and secure quantum communication frameworks, along with test-beds that strengthen India’s deep-tech research pipeline across key sectors.

Wipro has announced a strategic research alliance with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID), marking a significant step toward strengthening India’s deep-tech research capacity in quantum computing, advanced AI, and next-generation computing architectures.

The collaboration is designed to accelerate the development of frontier technologies for high-impact sectors, including healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, and secure digital systems.

The partnership centers on developing quantum algorithms, neurosymbolic AI models and secure quantum communication frameworks, along with test-beds that strengthen India’s deep-tech research pipeline across key sectors.

Senior IISc leadership noted that the initiative is expected to enhance India’s research-to-industry pipeline by enabling co-development of new intellectual property, translational research, and deployment-ready prototypes.

Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), stated, “This collaboration brings together the best of academic research and industry engineering to advance frontier areas like quantum and AI, where India must build strong indigenous capabilities.”

The joint programme focuses on quantum algorithms, neurosymbolic AI, secure quantum communication, autonomous network intelligence and experimental platforms that support large-scale validation.

New test-beds and industry-grade research environments are also being developed to help enterprises and research groups evaluate emerging computational models.

Wipro’s leadership emphasized the strategic relevance of investing in long-horizon technologies that can shape the next era of digital transformation across global markets.

Rajan Kohli, CEO & Managing Director, Wipro, noted, “By working with IISc, we are creating a foundation for long-term research that strengthens India’s deep-tech ecosystem and builds capabilities that can address future digital demands.”

Representatives from FSID underlined that the partnership enables faster technology transfer and supports innovation pathways for startups, academic labs and enterprise developers working on advanced computing systems.

The alliance positions India to accelerate scientific breakthroughs in quantum and AI while reinforcing the country’s ambition to develop world-class research capacity in secure, high-performance and next-generation digital technologies.
