Global tech leader, Tata Elxsi, has launched AnaTel, an AI-native software development platform designed for healthcare and medical technology companies, in collaboration with OpenAna, a provider of an autonomous AI engineering platform.
It was unveiled during a recent event, where Tata Elxsi presented its latest advances in AI-powered MedTech engineering and compliance.
As per the company, the system is designed to address the growing regulatory and operational challenges faced by healthcare and medtech software teams.
AnaTel directly integrates autonomous AI agents into software engineering workflows across requirements management, architecture, deployment, verification, validation, and continuous optimisation.
The system aims to enable medtech companies to build regulatory-ready software while maintaining lifecycle documentation, traceability, and validation evidence as part of core engineering workflows throughout the development process.
In addition, it operates as a configurable AI software engineering team that leverages a specialised Healthcare and Life Sciences expert agent trained in medtech regulatory and engineering environments designed to generate code, documentation, test cases, and regulatory artefacts, while keeping human engineers and regulatory experts in control of all critical review and decision-making stages.
Further, the platform supports eSTAR-aligned submission preparation, requirements traceability matrices, verification and validation evidence, and audit-trail documentation as part of day-to-day engineering.
According to the company, the system is expected to reduce Software as a Medical Device development and change assessment timelines from eight weeks to 72 hours, while improving productivity by up to 60 per cent.
Speaking at the launch, Sreevatsa Sahasranaman, Senior Vice President and Head, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Tata Elxsi, said, "AnaTel accelerates regulatory-ready software engineering by bringing autonomous AI agents directly into the development workflows that shape compliance and submission readiness, while keeping our customers' engineering and regulatory experts firmly in control.”
By combining Tata Elxsi’s design-led and AI-first engineering expertise, deep healthcare domain knowledge, and access to global healthcare and medtech enterprises with OpenAna’s autonomous AI platform and technology innovation, AnaTel seeks to support regulatory-ready software development for the medical technology sector.
Commenting on the partnership, Rajiv Sondhi, Chief Executive Officer, OpenAna, said, "Our mission at OpenAna is to provide autonomous AI agents that work as reliable co-engineers alongside human teams. Partnering with Tata Elxsi on AnaTel brings this capability into one of the most demanding domains, regulated healthcare and medtech, where lifecycle traceability, safety, and compliance are as important as speed. Tata Elxsi's domain expertise and AI-first engineering ensure the platform is genuinely contextualized for the regulatory realities medtech teams face every day."
The latest launch follows another recent medtech platform initiative, where the company also introduced ViTel, an AI-powered material intelligence solution developed in collaboration with Viridium AI for medical device manufacturers.
