Tamil Nadu Gov Inks MoU Worth INR 2,700 Cr to Advance Lifescience Sector

The government of Tamil Nadu has recently signed MoUs with eight companies for projects involving proposed investments of more than INR 2,700 crore aimed at strengthening the life science sector of the state.
The proposed projects focus on different areas, including biologics manufacturing, medical devices, diagnostics, and vaccines, with new facilities and expansion projects planned across different locations in the state.
The initiative is part of the broader set of 97 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed in the presence of CM Vijay Joseph during a recent event, with proposed investments of INR 67,542 crore across multiple sectors.
The agreements span automotive, renewable energy, life sciences, electronics, research and development (R&D), and data centres.
The commitments are expected to include both greenfield and brownfield facilities and expansions of existing operations.
Key Projects
Among the life science companies, Caplin Group of Companies has proposed INR 925 crore for an integrated biologics and biosimilars R&D and manufacturing facility in Tiruvallur.
In addition, S3V Vascular Technologies is set to invest INR 525 crore in Kanchipuram to manufacture cardiovascular and neurovascular implants.
Meanwhile, Trivitron Healthcare has announced an INR 200 crore brownfield expansion aimed at strengthening capabilities across Molecular Diagnostics, Intensive Care, and Dialysis.
Further, Cellbios Healthcare & Lifesciences has committed INR 150 crore across Dindigul and Krishnagiri, while Green Signal Bio Pharma will invest INR 130 crore in Tiruvallur.
Other investment include include Acrannolife Genomics, with a proposed investment of INR 210 crore focused on molecular diagnostics, genomics and precision medicine, and KP Manish Global Ingredients, which has announced INR 600 crore for APIs and pharmaceutical excipients.
Furthermore, Genrobotics has signed an MoU involving a proposed INR 150 crore investment over five years to establish a robotics manufacturing base in Tamil Nadu. The project is expected to support manufacturing capacity and employment in the state.
As per reports, the latest agreements take the state’s cumulative investment commitments to more than INR 1 trillion in the first 100 days of the new government.
Highlighting the initiatives, Industries Minister S Keerthana reiterated the government’s ambition to build a $1.5 trillion Tamil Nadu economy by 2036, with a focus not merely on expanding the size of the economy but significantly upgrading its quality through advanced manufacturing, electronics, semiconductors, life sciences, renewable energy, aerospace, R&D, and global capability centres (GCCs).
Alongside industrial development, Tamil Nadu has also increased its focus on healthcare.
In a recent development, Tamil Nadu has strengthened its Healthcare spending by allocating INR 23,357 Cr in the 2026-27 Budget, with initiatives covering digital health, specialist services, cancer care, maternal healthcare, and elderly care, aimed at expanding access to healthcare services across the state.
