SCIINV Biosciences & World Trade Centre Shamshabad Collaborate to Tackle AMR

The collaboration between SCIINV Biosciences and the World Trade Centre is poised to launch multiple digital diagnostic products targeting various bacterial infections affecting humans, animals, and plants.

In a move towards addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR), Hyderabad-based startup SCIINV Biosciences and World Trade Centre (WTC)-Shamshabad, India, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The collaboration aims to harness the power of digital diagnostics in the fight against AMR, leveraging SCIINV BioSciences' AI/ML-led clinically validated digital diagnostic tool, AMRx.

Founded by women entrepreneurs from Hyderabad, SCIINV BioSciences collaborated with Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSIHL) to develop AMRx. The digital diagnostic tool employs artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, offering clinically validated insights to combat antimicrobial resistance.

The MoU, signed by Dr Uma Rani, CEO of SCIINV Biosciences, and Varaprasada Reddy Yarram, Chairman of World Trade Centre, Shamshabad, India, establishes a partnership that will combine SCIINV BioSciences' network with global academia and research organisations specialising in AMR.

World Trade Centre, Shamshabad, with its extensive global network, will play a pivotal role in supporting and expanding the collaborative efforts.

World Trade Centre, Shamshabad, holds the distinction of being the first operational WTC in Telangana. The collaboration between SCIINV Biosciences and the World Trade Centre is poised to launch multiple digital diagnostic products targeting various bacterial infections affecting humans, animals, and plants. This approach, often called One Health, recognises the interconnectedness of health across species.

Prof Pallu Reddanna, executive president of the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) and Emeritus Professor at the School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, attended the MoU signing ceremony.

Prof Reddanna emphasised the strategic importance of the alliance in taking innovative diagnostic tools to global markets, making them more accessible and affordable. The goal is to enable accurate diagnosis of bacterial infections, contributing to the containment of drug resistance across different species.

The collaboration represents a step forward in the development and deployment of advanced digital diagnostics to combat antimicrobial resistance. By leveraging expertise from both SCIINV Biosciences and the World Trade Centre, Shamshabad, the initiative aims to make a meaningful impact in the global efforts to address the challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance.

Addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance, in another development, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) extended an invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI) from medical professionals in tertiary care hospitals.

This is to initiate a collaborative effort to expand the scope of its antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance network to encompass secondary-level hospitals. This move by the ICMR is a strategic step in intensifying the battle against the growing threat of AMR.
