Odisha Signs 10 Health MoUs to Advance Trauma Care, Diagnostics & Public Health Infrastructure

The initiative has brought together expertise across emergency care, laboratory accreditation, digital innovation, traditional medicine and institutional development, aligning with Odisha's broader strategy to modernise healthcare services.

Odisha has strengthened its healthcare ecosystem by signing 10 MoUs with prominent national and international institutions to improve trauma care, diagnostics, medical education and public health infrastructure, strengthening multiple components of the state's health system.

The initiative has brought together expertise across emergency care, laboratory accreditation, digital innovation, traditional medicine and institutional development, aligning with Odisha's broader strategy to modernise healthcare services.

Partner organisations include Gujarat's I-Hub, Antara Foundation, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Adani Group's Seva Daan Aarogya Foundation, Health System Transformation Platform, AIIMS New Delhi's Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care, Amrita Hospital Kochi, the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Tata Steel Foundation and Kaivalya Education Foundation under Project Swasth.

Speaking about the initiative, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling said, "This is a historic day for our Health Department. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, we have signed 10 MoUs with various institutes for the health sector in Odisha."

He further added, "These MoUs cover 10 different verticals. Notably, we are taking a major step forward in trauma care for our state through the agreement with the All India Institute of Ayurveda. Through this partnership, we aim to promote the Indian Knowledge System and AYUSH in Odisha, ensuring high-quality education and practice."

A major outcome of the agreements is the collaboration with AIIMS New Delhi's Centre for Emergency and Trauma Care to establish a Trauma Care Centre of Excellence at a government medical college while strengthening trauma care services across the state.

Another partnership with the All India Institute of Ayurveda aims to expand healthcare practices rooted in Indian knowledge systems and Ayurveda, while Gujarat's I-Hub will support innovation, startups and modern teaching approaches in medical education.

Moreover, through its partnership with NABL, Odisha plans to upgrade laboratories in district headquarters hospitals and sub-divisional hospitals by securing accreditation, helping standardise laboratory services and improve the reliability of diagnostic testing.

Meanwhile, the collaboration with Amrita Hospital, Kochi, will offer children with congenital heart disease free surgeries, interventional cardiac procedures, post-operative care and follow-up treatment. The initiative also includes heart disease screening camps for children in remote parts of Odisha.

Additional MoUs with Tata Steel Foundation and Kaivalya Education Foundation under Project Swasth are expected to reinforce healthcare services, research capabilities and institutional infrastructure across the state.

The three-year collaboration will support evidence-based planning, health governance, workforce development, supply chain management and digital models to improve public health outcomes across all districts.

The state has also signed an agreement with Seva Daan Aarogya Foundation to establish patient attendants' rest houses at six government medical colleges and hospitals, providing accommodation for families accompanying patients during treatment.

Further strengthening healthcare infrastructure, Odisha has partnered with the International Finance Corporation to develop a climate-smart drug warehouse network.
