Mahendragarh Becomes Haryana's First Digital Health Model District Under ABDM

Under the new system, patients can register for outpatient consultations by scanning a QR code displayed at the hospital using their mobile phones.

Mahendragarh has completed the groundwork to become Haryana's first digital health model district under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), introducing QR code-based patient registration, digital OPD slips, and ABHA-linked health records, with a district-wide rollout expected within the next week.

According to the state government, the digital transformation has already been implemented in eight health institutions in Mahendragarh.

These include CHC Ateli, PHC Rampur, PHC Madhogarh, and the sub-centres at Bewal, Maroli, and Dattal. At present, the system is also operational in the General Physician outpatient department at Civil Hospital Narnaul.

Under the new system, patients can register for outpatient consultations by scanning a QR code displayed at the hospital using their mobile phones.

The OPD slip is then generated digitally, while consultation records are automatically linked to the patient's ABHA ID.

Doctors can instantly access previous medical history, laboratory reports, and prescribed medications, reducing the need for patients to carry physical records and helping clinicians make more informed treatment decisions.

The state government said the rollout has been accelerated through a three-day campaign conducted under the guidance of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao.

Under the supervision of State Mission Director Dr Virendra Yadav, State HMIS Manager Umesh Saini trained doctors, health officials, and healthcare staff on the digital platform.

Private hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and medical store operators have also been encouraged to join the digital ecosystem to improve continuity of care across the district.

Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Pawan Yadav stated that all healthcare workers in the district have been trained, while Health Professional Registry (HPR) IDs for doctors and Health Facility Registry (HFR) IDs for institutions have already been created.

The digital system is expected to be extended to all health centres, hospitals, and both medical colleges at Koriwas and Patikara within the coming week.

Civil Surgeon Dr Ashok Kumar said, "Approximately 76 per cent of the district's citizens have already received ABHA IDs, which is among the best achievements in the state."

He added that a team from the National Health Authority is scheduled to review the district's preparedness on August 7.

If the assessment is successful, Mahendragarh could be formally declared Haryana's first digital health model district after August 15.
