Mahajan Imaging & Labs Launches Digital PET-CT & Nuclear Medicine Unit to Advance Precision Diagnostics

The newly established department integrates a digital PET-CT system and a gamma camera alongside existing modalities such as 3T MRI and 128-slice CT.

Mahajan Imaging & Labs, a chain of High-End Integrated Diagnostic centres, has launched its Department of Digital PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine at the Pusa Road centre in New Delhi, expanding access to advanced imaging and nuclear medicine technologies for improved diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care.

The newly established department integrates a digital PET-CT system and a gamma camera alongside existing modalities such as 3T MRI and 128-slice CT. This combination enables both anatomical and functional imaging, allowing clinicians to assess disease progression with greater clarity and precision.

The digital PET-CT system, in particular, delivers high-resolution imaging while reducing radiation exposure by up to 60 per cent and shortening scan durations, improving both safety and patient experience.

The gamma camera expands the scope of functional imaging, supporting evaluation of cardiac function, bone disorders, and thyroid conditions, while also enabling targeted radionuclide therapies. These capabilities contribute to theranostics, where diagnosis and treatment are closely linked, enabling more personalised interventions.

Kapil Dev, 1983 World Cup-winning captain, inaugurated the facility and said, “Ten years ago, many of these advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities were difficult to imagine, but today they are becoming a reality with the progress we are seeing in medical technology.”

“Mahajan Imaging & Labs has combined precision, comfort, and care, creating a space where diagnostics and a reassuring environment come together under one roof,” he added.

The facility also supports oncology workflows through accurate tumour mapping, aiding radiation therapy planning and monitoring treatment response.

Beyond oncology, applications extend to cardiology and neurology, including assessment of heart muscle viability and conditions such as dementia and seizure disorders.
