J&K Hospitals Go Live with MedLeaPR System Portal

The software aims to transform medical legal reporting by speeding up the preparation of Medico-legal and post-mortem reports across healthcare institutions.

In a significant move towards modernizing healthcare administration, the Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department of Jammu and Kashmir initiated the implementation of Medico Legal Examination and Postmortem Report System (MedLeaPR), which has gone live now.

The software, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), aims to digitalize the procedure of creating and managing Medico-Legal Reports (MLRS) and the Postmortem Reports (PMRs).

Following the completion of training and registration of doctors, the MedLeaPR is now live across all the operational hospitals, including Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs), in the region.

Dr Azia Manzoor Bhat, Nodal Officer for the implementation of MedLeaPR, commented,“The portal has gone live and is being used in all hospitals from April 7, following the completion of training and registration of nearly 6,000 doctors from J&K.”

MedLeaPR System in Improving Healthcare Delivery

The MedLeaPR system is an innovative software developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to facilitate the digitalization of Medico-Legal Reports (MLRs) and Postmortem Reports (PMRs).

Additionally, the system provides secure access based on the roles and responsibilities of the respective doctors and health institutions and also enables data sharing with investigating officers.

The system also supports online reporting of MLRs and PMRs using five formats and allows the use of graphical and pictorial representations, image drawing, eSign, and integration with Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS)

While the portal went live across J&K on April 7, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura officially announced its implementation on May 14, directing doctors to ensure that all medico-legal cases are registered through the MedLeaPR portal with immediate effect.

SKIMS has instructed all Senior Residents (SRs) and Postgraduate students (PGs), particularly in the Department of Emergency Medicine, to upload all medico-legal cases directly to the portal without delay.
